  • Sanborn maps - from Princeton University.  These give you shape and location of houses and sometimes block number then you can look them up at city hall building permits sometimes original blueprints and tax records of property transfers.

  • Atlas of HIstorical County Boundaries (Newberry Library) - New Jersey (has shape files for use with GIS files and KMZ files  for use with Google Earth.  Has an interactive map and individual county chronologies

  • HistoryPin - Historypin is a place for people to share photos and stories, telling the histories of their local communities.

  • WhatWasThere - ties historical photos to Google Maps, allowing you to tour familiar streets to see how they appeared in the past.

 

Our Special Collections Dept has some histories of local homes as does the Bloomfield Historical Society.
